# Personal and shared

Inside a workspace, most things you create are either **personal** or **shared**.

| | Personal | Shared |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Who can see it | Only you | Everyone in the workspace |
| Who can work in it and edit it | Only you | Everyone in the workspace |
| Who can switch it between personal and shared | You | Only the person who created it |

## What can be personal or shared

- **Chats**: choose with the picker under the message box before you send the first message, or later in the chat's options (ⓘ). A chat can't become personal again once someone else has posted in it. See [Shared chats](/chats#shared-chats)
- **Projects**: choose when you create it, or with **Share with workspace** in its settings. Its chat and tasks follow the project. See [Projects](/projects)
- **Automations**, **prompt templates** and **project templates**: switch on **Share with workspace** when you create one, or later in its settings
- **Memories**: personal memories apply to your chats only; shared ones to everyone's. See [Memory](/memory)

New items are personal unless you choose otherwise.

## What's always yours

- **Connectors**: you connect with your own account and only you can use them, even in shared chats. See [Connectors](/connectors)
- **Your account settings**, personal instructions and notification settings. See [Your account](/profile)

## What belongs to the whole workspace

- Its plan, credits and billing
- Its company context, members and bots
- Its approval and chat retention settings
