# Project templates

A project template is what a new [project](/projects) starts with: a brief to fill in and its tasks, in order, each with its instructions and the tasks it waits on.

## Built-in templates

Every workspace comes with templates for common hiring work: **Fill a role**, **Map the market**, **Source a shortlist**, **Executive search**, **Rediscover then source**, **Screen applicants**, **Interview to offer**, **Benchmark pay** and **Catch talent on the move**. They're shared with the whole workspace, and you can edit them like your own.

## Start a project from a template

- Open the template and click **New project from it**, or
- In the message box, choose **+** → **Project templates** and pick one. Then describe the work and send

The template's brief becomes the project's brief, and its tasks are planned and waiting in **To Do**. Nothing runs yet: the project chat offers **Start the plan** to start them with one approval, or **Change the plan** to adjust them first.

## Create your own

1. Go to **Projects** and click **Templates**, then **New template**
2. Give it a **Name** and a short **Summary**
3. Write the **Brief**: what whoever starts a project fills in, such as the role, must-haves and markets. Every task reads it
4. Add up to 20 tasks with **Add task**, or pick them **From the library** of recruiting tasks such as Source candidates, Market map, Screen applicants, Salary benchmark, Interview kit or Reference checks
5. For each task, write its instructions and, under **Starts after**, pick the tasks it waits on
6. Click **Create template**

A new template is **Personal**: only you see it. Switch on **Share with workspace** to let everyone use it.

## Manage templates

Open a template to edit it. In its settings you can also:

- **Share with workspace**: only the template's creator can change this
- **Duplicate template**: make a personal copy to change
- **Archive template**: hide it from new projects. Find it again with **Show archived** at the bottom of the list
- **Delete template**: projects started from it keep their tasks

Any member can edit a shared template.
