# Slack and Teams bots

With the SourceGeek bot, your team can ask SourceGeek for help without leaving Slack or Microsoft Teams. Conversations stay in your messenger.

## Connect Slack

A workspace admin does this once:

1. Go to **Settings → Bots**
2. On the Slack card, click **Add to Slack** and approve SourceGeek in Slack
3. Invite the bot to the channels where you want to use it: type `/invite @sourcegeek` in the channel

## Connect Microsoft Teams

A workspace admin does this once:

1. Go to **Settings → Bots**
2. On the Microsoft Teams card, click **Connect Microsoft 365 tenant** and approve SourceGeek for your organization
3. If SourceGeek isn't available in Teams yet, a Teams admin adds the SourceGeek app in the Teams admin center

Each Slack workspace or Microsoft 365 tenant connects to one SourceGeek workspace.

## Talk to the bot

- **Slack**: message the bot directly, or @mention it in a channel. In a thread with the bot, you can keep replying without mentioning it
- **Teams**: chat with the bot directly, or @mention it in a channel or group chat

The bot answers like SourceGeek in the app, and each conversation is saved as a personal chat in SourceGeek. When SourceGeek needs your approval, it shows **Allow** and **Deny** buttons that only you can use.

## Link your account

Link your Slack or Microsoft account to your SourceGeek account so the bot works as you:

- In **Settings → Bots**, click **Link your Slack account** or **Link your Microsoft account**, or
- Ask the bot to link your account. It sends you a personal link that works for 15 minutes. Open it while signed in to SourceGeek and click **Link account**

Until you link, your messages count as the workspace's creator, and SourceGeek can't use your [connectors](/connectors). Once linked, the bot uses your own connectors and your messages are yours.

To unlink, click **Unlink** in **Settings → Bots**.

## Credits

Conversations with the bot use the workspace's credits, like any chat. See [Credits and usage](/workspace/usage).

## Disconnect a bot

A workspace admin can click **Disconnect** on the bot's card in **Settings → Bots**. The bot stops answering and everyone's account links are removed.

Other members can see the Bots page but can't connect or change bots.
